‘LinkedIn processed 18 million email addresses of non-users for targeted advertising’

“LinkedIn processed the email addresses of 18 million non-members and targeted them with advertising on Facebook without permission, an audit by the [Irish] Data Protection Commissioner has found.”

@indie Why does this not surprise me? LinkedIN constantly tells you that X amount of people in your contacts are not on LinkedIN and that it would be a jolly good idea if you brought them onboard.

@indie It would be interesting to find out how they obtained the email addresses - did they purchase them, extract them via the Contacts API on Android etc.

i constantly get recruiters trying to add me to it, welcome to my banned recruiters list mofos.

@indie "Do you want to upload your contact to connect to them on LinkedIn?" "Oh and by the way, we will keep them forever and share with other companies as well..." 🙄
